Hi all,
We can iron out the details soon but here is an outline from today's planning chat:
We have Project Educate: Feedback Frenzy from July 2nd-8th. Here are our planned activities:
1. Feedback Frenzy! - teams of 4 users from across media, randomly assigned, collect and give feedback on deviations (from signup done in advance) during the course of the PE week.
2. Before / After - Recipients of feedback (not necessarily part of Feedback Frenzy) submit 1 deviation at the start of the study as their "before," use the feedback they receive either as part of FF or from another source to make a future deviation based on the feedback, and submit that deviation as the "after" with explicit description of what they improved and how they used the feedback.
3. We have REQUESTED (not received yet) prizes from Community Relations. We will also try to round up some crowd-sourced prizes (donations) from members.
4. Promotions will be in personal journals and groups, and by networking with interested CVs and other leaders in the community who might be willing to help
5. Post running tallies of the teams' scores on the front page of the group
For Feedback Frenzy: [Development]
People sign up in advance, starting next week, by sending a note to the group with their name, medium, and up to 2 deviations for critique. We will need help with promotions (see #4 above). Need to agree to give AND receive critique.
Critics make critiques on work, and the recipient scores that person.
When the critic makes a comment, he/she will also include a link to a journal telling how to rate the critique (e.g. a rubric) and a line stating that the critique was part of Feedback Frenzy.
Critics send note to the group with link to comments (so we can keep track).
Artists send note to group with rating following rubric (also so we can track). For each rating they send back, they get a ticket in the drawing for a bonus prize.
People get a small number of dA points just for signing up and participating.
Ideas for blogs:
Show feedback that someone received in a deviation and have them tell why it was helpful. > MewMewMizuno [Development]
What does the critic hope for when he or she GIVES critique? [Development]
Why do people not want critique, and why is it important to honor these wishes? > ImaginaryRosseArt [Development]
How to critique (tutorials) [Development]
How to receive a critique > Hixateez [Development]
A comment chain / comment exchange (I didn't write down details for this one, so if the idea originator would like to edit this blog and add an explanation, that'd be superb!) [Development]
Reasons to get a critique (fun, humorous)
We also talked about having a chat toward the end of the week as an event culmination > ziinyu [Development]
What can I do?
You can edit this blog and add your ideas where appropriate. (We have Feedback Frenzy pretty much sorted but anything else is all yours.)
You can help us come up with a way for promoting the activity so we can get going on it next week. PROBLEM: We do not have confirmation of the prizes yet. That's my (Aeirmid's) fault, and I'll see what I can do about it.
You can design an icon for the group!!
You can claim any of the above blogs or chat to be responsible for.
There will be much more very soon!

FF-02: Thoughtful Comments
Thoughtfulness is an important thing to keep in mind when interacting with others, even more so here on the internet where our method of communication is written word.
So, what exactly does thoughtfulness mean?
It's so much more than just being polite! The definition of the word can be found easily on online dictionaries, for example, but roughly speaking there are 3 definitions:
1. Absorbed in thought
2. Characterized by careful thought, exhibiting careful thought
3. Having or showing heed for or anticipating the needs and wants of others and their happiness
In the case of writing comments one has to keep the 2nd and 3rd definitions in
FF-02: What to write about literature deviations
Hello, hello, hello
We all know that leaving feedback on a literature deviation is something hard. It takes more time to get the whole picture and often, after finishing the whole lecture, you are left with just an omniscient "uhm" to say. This blog will cover just that: what to write instead of that uhm.
No matter how the deviation is structured you can always say how the text made you feel and what you liked about it. Focus on the images or phrases which gave you that impression and see how they relate to the whole text. Expand by analyzing the register and style the piece was written in (humorous, drama, angry or happy). Y
Interested in taking over?
Hi all,
Is anyone interested in taking over this group? I don't have time to handle future competitions. The time I do have needs to be directed toward photomanip or (gasp) my schoolwork.
Please drop me a note (Aeirmid (https://www.deviantart.com/aeirmid)) if you're interested.
Thanks!
Jade
We will have results soon!
Hi all,
Just a really super quick note that we are working really hard on your results for the Feedback Frenzy competition and will have them for you in a couple of days. :D
Don't forget about the Before & After Feedback Challenge! :D

Thanks,
The FF team
