Deviation Actions
During previous weeks of dA Community Relations' projecteducate, we have learned about the importance of giving and receiving critique for our work. Now, let's shake things up a bit!
a comment/critique contest as part of projecteducate: Feedback Week!
The contest is now closed to entrants and will start on Monday July 2nd!
WHAT: "Feedback Frenzy" is a week-long game that ANYONE (yes, even YOU!) can play. The goals are ① to step outside your comfort zone and practice giving feedback to others, even if not in your own genre, ② to meet new deviants from across dA, and ③ to receive as much high-quality, usable feedback on your work as possible.
WHEN: July 2nd to July 8th (one full week)
WHERE: All of deviantART!
HOW:
Great feedback is hard to find - unless you know where to look. We are looking to you, the deviantART community to show us some of the best critiquing this site has to offer! Beautiful artwork is featured here all the time, now it's time to feature some beautiful comments too. So give us the best you've got - make your comments useful, accurate, applicable, informative, and friendly (but honest) - pull together resources and provide direction for the artist. Remember, you'll be receiving comments through this contest as well as giving them, so write the kind of critique that you'd really love to get in return.

FF-02: Thoughtful Comments
Thoughtfulness is an important thing to keep in mind when interacting with others, even more so here on the internet where our method of communication is written word.
So, what exactly does thoughtfulness mean?
It's so much more than just being polite! The definition of the word can be found easily on online dictionaries, for example, but roughly speaking there are 3 definitions:
1. Absorbed in thought
2. Characterized by careful thought, exhibiting careful thought
3. Having or showing heed for or anticipating the needs and wants of others and their happiness
In the case of writing comments one has to keep the 2nd and 3rd definitions in
FF-02: What to write about literature deviations
Hello, hello, hello
We all know that leaving feedback on a literature deviation is something hard. It takes more time to get the whole picture and often, after finishing the whole lecture, you are left with just an omniscient "uhm" to say. This blog will cover just that: what to write instead of that uhm.
No matter how the deviation is structured you can always say how the text made you feel and what you liked about it. Focus on the images or phrases which gave you that impression and see how they relate to the whole text. Expand by analyzing the register and style the piece was written in (humorous, drama, angry or happy). Y
Interested in taking over?
Hi all,
Is anyone interested in taking over this group? I don't have time to handle future competitions. The time I do have needs to be directed toward photomanip or (gasp) my schoolwork.
Please drop me a note (Aeirmid (https://www.deviantart.com/aeirmid)) if you're interested.
Thanks!
Jade
We will have results soon!
